ABOUT US

As a Consultant Sociologist in 2005, Dr Veronica Evelyn noticed something very disturbing. This being the high-level push towards a social change which was contrary to God’s design, purpose and plan for marriage and the family. Dr Evelyn immediately shared this information with as many pastors and church leaders as she knew. And the mailing list grew over the years. In 2015, after seeing a flier advertising a weekend of activities for the LGBT community, she invited both church and marketplace leaders to meet and discuss the role of the church in preserving God’s plan for marriage and the family. This needed to be understood amidst the rapidly changing beliefs about human sexuality.

Nineteen leaders accepted the invitation. These included the Pentecostal Assemblies of the West Indies, the Church of the Nazarene, the New Testament Church of God, The Wesleyan Holiness Church as well as leaders of independent churches including First Baptist Church, Shalem Evangelical Church, Sanctuary Empowerment and Restoration Ministries. Marketplace Leaders included Ambrose and Maria Carter from the Pure Sex Centre, Marcia Jenkins of the Rock Christian School and media & communications personnel. At that meeting, it was decided that the group’s focus would be pro-family, not anti-LGBT. It was also agreed that Bishop Marlon Husbands would co-ordinate church leaders and Dr Evelyn would co-ordinate marketplace leaders as these concerned Barbadians moved towards holding their first rally in November 2015. Subsequent rallies were held annually until 2019, prior to the Covid 19 pandemic.

This emerging group, loosely referred to as ‘the Barbados Rally’, organized educational sessions, panel discussions and sought to raise public awareness of the new direction Barbados seemed to be taking. This being away from God and towards secular humanism. In three seasons from June 2020 – August 2021, FFFB hosted a series of 45 weekly 30-minute radio programs aired on Life 97.5 FM. These programs entitled “Family Matters” were co-hosted by Rev. Cheryl Harewood and Dr Evelyn. And they sought to bring biblical solutions to social issues, especially those directly related to family and marriage.

A committee, headed by Rev. John Carter and including Attorney-at-Law Corey Beckles and Dr Evelyn drafted a constitution which was presented to the larger group for discussion and ratification. Family-Faith-Freedom, Barbados, was officially registered as a Charity organization and launched on Sunday 19th March, 2019 at the Nazarene church, Collymore Rock. Subsequently FFFB was registered with the Corporate Affairs Office and Intellectual Properties Office (CAIPO) on August 16th, 2019. FFFB activities are funded by the kind donations of individuals as well as local church and business organizations that support the vison and mission of the organization. And as the organization marks it's fifth anniversary. We continue to seek the support of all Barbadians who understand that this beautiful country can only stand on the sovereignty of almighty God
